Our Science Explainers are here to make your visit to Life and learning experience interesting, exciting, entertaining, engaging and fun. They’re extremely well educated and talented people who can explain science in a funky and understandable way. Dividing their time between delivering live, interactive science shows, working with school groups in LifeLab and engaging with visitors in the exhibitions, they are the face of Life’s Science Centre and vital members of our team.

The role of science explainer is very popular with science graduates from the north east and it’s a great way for them to communicate the theory they’ve learnt during their degrees in a fun and accessible way. Ian Simmons, Life’s Director of Science Communications adds that, ‘We are extremely lucky to have such a talented and enthusiastic team of young science explainers, many of whom are masters graduates and studying for their PhDs. They are all friendly, approachable, hugely knowledgeable, and most of all, here to help you get the most out of Life.’
